Maxcem Elite – dental resin cement

MAXCEM ELITE
Maxcem Elite Self-etch/Self-adhesive Resin Cement.

Maxcem Elite is a self-etch, self-adhesive resin cement offered in a paste/paste formulation indicated for indirect cementation of porcelain, ceramic, resin and metal restorations.

This product contains 69% filler by weight and is radiopaque.

The dual-cure material is packaged in dual barrel syringes with single-use automix tips and optional curved dispensing tips to allow user to deliver desired volume of cement directly into restoration and/or tooth prep.

Indications for Use

Cementation of porcelain, ceramic, resin, and metal-based inlays/onlays, crowns, bridges, posts, and veneers.
Cementation of crown restorations to implants

Maxcem Elite – Instructions for Use

Note: Verify that the laboratory has pre-treated the final restoration in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Automix tips are for single patient use only, to prevent cross-contamination between patients. Use only temporary cements that are eugenol-free. The use of eugenol-containing temporary luting materials can inhibit the polymerization process of resin cements including Maxcem Elite.

All Indirect Restorations (excluding Veneers)

1. Remove provisional restoration.

2. Use OptiClean rotary instrument, or your choice of cleaning method, to remove temporary cement and residue from preparation area. Rinse thoroughly.

3. Air dry preparation (do not desiccate).

4. Try in restoration to ensure proper fit.

5. Select desired shade of cement.

6. Bleed syringe before initial use. Place appropriate mixer on dual syringe cartridge. Mixer with wide opening is only for use with curved tips.

Dispensing of the material can be done as follows:

Inlay/Onlay – Dispense the cement directly into cavity preparation covering all surfaces.  Seat restoration gently onto tooth prep, allowing the cement to flow from all sides.

Crown – Dispense the cement directly into restoration or tooth prep, covering all surfaces. Seat restoration gently onto tooth prep, allowing the cement to flow from all margins.

Post – Prepare post space. Size and fit post. Dispense the cement onto post or directly into canal space. Seat post and vibrate slightly to avoid trapped air. Allow the cement to slowly flow from canal space.

7. When restoration is properly seated, remove excess cement. Excess cement is best removed in its gel state with a scaler or  explorer. Gel state can be achieved by tack-curing excess with a light for approximately 2 seconds,  or by allowing the cement to self-cure for approximately 2-3 minutes after application.

8. After removal of excess cement, light cure all surfaces including margins using Demi curing light for 10 seconds.   See footnote for recommended curing times for other curing light models.*

9. Use finishing strips for proximal areas. Polish margins with Gloss Plus discs, cups, or points. Use HiLusterPlus polishers for a final high luster shine.
10. Check occlusion.

Veneer Restorations
For cementation of veneers (ideal for 1-2 units), select OptiBond Solo Plus† adhesive or OptiBond All-In-One adhesive. The following
instructions are for OptiBond Solo Plus adhesive only:

  1. Etch tooth prep for 15 seconds with Kerr Gel Etchant (37.5% phosphoric acid), rinse thoroughly, and air dry (Do not desiccate).
  2. Apply OptiBond Solo Plus adhesive with light brushing motion for 15 seconds,  air thin for 3 seconds, and light cure with Demi curing light for 5 seconds.*
  3. Dispense cement directly onto internal surface of the veneer. Place the veneer gently onto tooth, allowing the cement to slowly flow from all margins.
  4. Spot cure the veneer into place on facial surface, away from the margins, using a small diameter light guide for several seconds.
  5. After removing excess cement, light cure all surfaces using Demi curing light for 10 seconds.

For veneer cementation using Maxcem Elite,  adhesive application on tooth prep is required. Using an adhesive in combination with Maxcem Elite for other cementation procedures is optional but not necessary.

Crown Restorations to Implants

  1. Remove provisional restoration.
  2. Use OptiClean rotary instrument, or your choice of cleaning method, to remove temporary cement and residue from the implant.
  3. Air-abrade the implant or roughen the implant surface with BluWhite Diamond Bur, or your choice of bur.
  4. Rinse the implant thoroughly.
  5. Air dry the implant.
  6. Try in restoration to ensure proper fit.
  7. Select desired shade of cement.
  8. Bleed cartridge before initial use. Place appropriate mixer on dual syringe cartridge. Mixer with wide opening is only for use  with curved tips.
  9. Dispense the cement directly into crown restoration or onto implant, covering all surfaces.  Seat restoration gently onto the  implant,  allowing the cement to flow from all margins.
  10. When restoration is properly seated, remove excess cement. Excess cement is best removed in its gel state with a scaler or explorer. Gel state can be achieved by tack curing excess with a light for approximately 2 seconds, or by allowing  the cement to self-cure for approximately 2-3 minutes after application.
  11. After removal of excess cement, light cure all surfaces including margins using Demi curing light for 10 seconds.*
  12. Use finishing strips for proximal areas. Polish margins with Gloss Plus discs, cups, or points. Use HiLuster Plus Dia polishers  for a final high-luster shine.
  13. Check occlusion.

Note: Material minimum working time is 1.5 minutes at ambient temperature; Set time is temperature. These times may vary based on storage conditions, temperature, humidity, and age of product.
