UltraCem – Resin-Reinforced Glass Ionomer Cement

UltraCem syringes
UltraCem is a chemical cure, resin reinforced (modified) glass ionomer cement.

UltraCem is intended for cementation of indirect restorations (including inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges) made of metal, porcelain fused to metal, zirconia and resin to natural teeth.

This product is also intended for cementation of orthodontic bands to natural teeth.

NOTE: UltraCem is contraindicated for veneers, porcelain only crowns, very translucent restorations, and for pulp capping. For insulation/protection of the dental pulp, use a calcium hydroxide material.

UltraCem – directions for Use:


  • Clean tooth preparation surfaces with Consepsis Scrub, rinse thoroughly and lightly dry. Do not dessicate.
  • Verify prosthetic fit.
  • Prepare inside surface of metal prosthesis by micro-abrading surface followed by phosphoric acid for 5 seconds. Rinse, dry.

For Zirconia Restorations:
UltraCem foto

  • Apply Peak Universal Bond to the preparation using a scrubbing motion for 10 seconds. (No etchant required.)
  • Aggressively air thin until surface appears dull and light cure for 10-seconds with VALO. For best results, sandblast the inside of the zirconia prosthesis; clean with an air/water spray and dry.
    PRECAUTION: Never use phosphoric acid to clean zirconia as it will significantly reduce bond strengths. Do not use a zirconia primer with UltraCem.

Bottle Dispensing:

  1. Shake the bottle to fluff powder.
  2. Using the small end of the enclosed spoon, place 1 level spoonful of powder onto mixing pad being careful not to compress the powder. Holding bottle of liquid vertically to avoid air bubbles, dispense 1 drop onto mixing pad.
    NOTE: For a larger quantity of cement, use the large end of the spoon and mix with 2 drops of the liquid.
  3. Mix the liquid and powder together within 20 seconds. The cement should have a smooth and glossy appearance.
  4. Place mixed UltraCem cement inside prosthesis and seat immediately.
  5. UltraCem has a working time of approximately 1-3 minutes at room temperature followed by a rubbery consistency allowing easy removal of the excess cement.
  6. UltraCem will be fully cured within 5 minutes at 37°C.

Syringe Dispensing:

  1. Do not remove yellow syringe clip or yellow tipped wire prior to mixing.
  2. Flick or tap barrel 4 times to fluff powder.
  3. Push the outer white small stem into the plunger to dispense the liquid into powder chamber making certain that the stem is fully seated against the top part of the plunger.
  4. Leaving the yellow tip metal rod in place, grasp the straight, delivery/mixing tip section and push it in and out of the body of the syringe 10-15 times to mix the chemical.
  5. UltraCem

  6. After mixing, fully extend the delivery/mixing tip out.
  7. Remove and discard the yellow tip metal rod and the yellow syringe clip.
  8. Verify flow and express UltraCem into prosthesis. Seat immediately.
  9. UltraCem has a working time of approximately 1-3 minutes at room temperature followed by a rubbery consistency allowing easy removal of the excess cement.
  10. UltraCem will be fully cured within 5 minutes at 37°C.

Precautions and warnings:

  1. Carefully read and understand all instructions before using.
  2. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and soft tissue. If skin or soft tissue is exposed to UltraCem, wipe area with alcohol and thoroughly rinse area with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with copious amounts of water and immediately seek medical attention. If allergic reaction, dermatitis or rash develops, discontinue use and consult a physician.
  3. Store in a cool dark place.
  4. Humidity can cause UltraCem powder to cake and reduce solubility. Close all containers immediately after use.
  5. Using a metal spatula may shorten the working and set time of this product.
  6. When mixing on a mixing pad, the material may not appear fully set.
  7. To avoid cement from setting on dental instruments, immediately rinse with cold water and wipe cement from surface.
  8. Do not use on patients with known sensitivities to glass ionomers, polyacrylic acid, amines, fluorosilicate, HEMA, glycerin dimethacrylate, diurethane dimethacrylate and parabenes.
  9. Use an ultrasonic scaler and/or hand scaler to remove residual cement after removing orthodontic bands.
  10. Avoid direct contact with eugenol or thymol-based products. These products will inhibit the setting of UltraCem™ and any glass ionomer cements.
  11. Use only eugenol-free temporary cements prior to final cementation. Thoroughly remove clean and remove all temporary cement residues to ensure optimal adhesion.
  12. Patient, clinician and assistant must wear protective eyewear when using this product.
  13. Do not use UltraCem for veneers, porcelain crowns, pulp capping or post cementation.
  14. Do not use after expiration date noted on containers.
  15. Dispose of parts and empty syringes properly.
  16. Keep out of reach of children.
  17. Never use phosphoric acid to clean zirconia as it will significantly reduce bond strengths. Do not use a zirconia primer with UltraCem.
